CULTURAL ASSOCIATION REPORT 2016-17

2016-17 was a successful year for the College Cultural Association.

Students participated in Youth festival (University of Mumbai), as well as fests organised by other colleges.

The noteworthy achievement in the ZONE III round (Youth Festival) were:

1.  Darshan Kharde – 2nd prize Western Instrumental (Zonal)

2.  Purnima Rathod

     Shraddha Mishra                          3rd prize Group Song (Zonal)

Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA)is considered one of the best platforms for college students to showcase their acting talent. Our Students Mr. Sameer (Appa) Sawant and Mr. Shubham Dabholkar were awarded Certificates of Merit for their performance in the play Waiting for Godot, at the 45th Inter-collegiate Drama Competition organised by IPTA, on September 29, 2016.

Mr. Yash Tendulkar won the 1st Prize for Mono-Act competition (Kurukshetra, Synergy,   and various other inter-collegiate festivals).

The CollegeAnnual Day was held on the A. B. GOREGAONKAR school grounds on February 2, 2017. It was a fun-filled event, with students showcasing their talents in multiple song and dance routines.

SPANDAN

For the seventh consecutive year, the College organised the Marathi One-Act Inter-Collegiate One-Act Play Competition. This Competition has now become established as a State-level competition, with colleges from Pune and Mahad also participating.

The Elimination rounds were held on December 20, 21, and 22, 2016, in the College Auditorium. The judges for the Eliminations were Mr. Dnyaneshwar Margajj and Mr.Anil Gawas. Of the 14 colleges that participated, the following were short-listed for the Finals:

➢   MAHARSHI  DAYANAND  COLLEGE

➢   SYDENHAM  COLLEGE

➢   DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR COLLEGE

➢   D.G. RUPAREL COLLEGE

➢   CHETNA COLLEGE

The Finals were held on January 4, 2017, at Dinanath Natyamandir, Vile Parle (E). The judges were Mr. Pramod Pawar, Ms. Madhavi Gogate, and Mr. Anil Shetge. The Chief Guest was well-renowned actor Mr. Sanjay Mone.

The winners were:

1.      MAHARSHI  DAYANAND  COLLEGE (DAPTAR)

2.      SYDNEHAM  COLLEGE (SHYAMCHI AAI)

3.      DR.BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR COLLEGE (AMHI  TUJHI  LEKRE)

The Cultural Association also organised various College Days such as:

Mr. Prathamesh  Mayekar and Ms. SwapnaleePrabhu were selected the Best Volunteers of the Cultural Association for the year. Mr. Suraj Kamble was selected Secretaryof the Cultural Association and Mr. Abhijeet Kaninde was selected Joint Secretary.
