The College has a Nature Club, which performs the valuable function of raising awareness about environmental concerns among its members. The Club organises Nature Trails for its members every year. The Club is registered as PrithviSankalp with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and also holds an annual membership (renewed every year).
On August 31, 2016, a theme-based lecture-cum-slide show was organised by the Club on ‘Solid Waste Management’. The speaker wasMicrobiologist Mr. Jayant Joshi.
Mr. Joshi discussed the various types of solid waste produced in Mumbai on a daily basis. He then went on to demonstrate an excellent method of organic waste disposal using specific low cost bacteria in plastic baskets, and which is easy to implement. He explained that the method is not only cost effective but also simple, and without any foul smell that is commonly generated in other methods of disposal. These baskets are highly cost-effective, very low-maintenance, and easy to use. They are available in different capacities and can be installed in our kitchens, restaurants, canteens and food points.
The lecture was attended by FY and SY students of Botany, Zoology Chemistry and Physics, their feedback was excellent.
