On 29 August, 2016,the Inaugural Function of the CWDC was held in the College Auditorium.Mr. Aadesh Chavan, from Yuvaa Aadhar, a city-based NGO, was the Chief Guest for this function.

The function began with Dr. Sandhya Parvate, a senior member of CWDC, introducing the Cell and stating its objectives. She also presented the report of CWDC for the academic year 2015-16.

After the felicitation of the guests, Mrs. Deepti Mujumdar, convener of CWDC, spoke about the CSR programme of ICICI group. The ICICI Academy for Skill Development is offering free 3-months courses under two categories: 1) Technical 2) Office Management. CWDC has taken up the registration of the students of our College for these courses, which commence from September 24, 2016. Mr. Deorao Kapase, Sports Specialist from our College, is a member of CWDC. He has been selected to represent India in the 5th Beach Asian Games to be held at Vietnam in September 2016. He was also felicitated on this occasion.

This was followed by a presentation and an interactive session on “Teenage Relationships”. This presentation was based on scientific research conducted by various Universities across the world. The presentation discussed the meaning of teenage relationships, reasons for entering such relationships, success rate, reasons for failure and the impact on teens, especially girls. There was also a discussion of the support system for such teens at individual and college level. The presentation was followed by an interactive session. Students gave a positive feedback about the programme.

A poster-making competition on the theme “Women Empowerment” was arranged for students of the College. Winning entries were shortlisted. These were displayed on the CWDC notice board.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2017, the CWDC, in association with the students of Department of English, greeted all the women staff members (teaching and non-teaching staff) with chocolates and greeting cards specially made for the occasion.
