On January 21, 2017, the Science Departments of the College Self-Financed (SF) section organised JIDNYASA, an event for school children, for the second consecutive year. This year, the event was attended by a school principal, 26 teachers, and 142 students of classes VIII, IX and X, from schools in Goregaon, Jogeshwari, Malad, Kandivali and Borivali. Students from Chikitsak Samuha’s Shirolkar High School, Girgaum, were also present.
Jidnyasa aims to provide information to school students about various fields of applied science through lectures and practicals. Students were taken to visit various Departments of the SF section, such as Aviation, Information Technology & Computer Science, Microbiology & Biotechnology, where various concepts were explained to them and some processes were demonstrated. Students were also shown some specialised equipment and were told of the career opportunities available in each field.
After lunch, the students were taken to visit the exhibition organised in the College Auditorium. The exhibition featured 15 projects based on science and technological applications and prepared by the students of Shirolkar High School.
At the end of the event, all participants of JIDNYASA were awarded with certificates, and each school was gifted a set of books for their library.
