On August 20, 2016, the Marathi Vangmay Mandal of the College invited Mr. Bharat Ganeshpure, who features in the Zee Marathi show Chala Hawa Yeu Dya.
Ms. Sheetal Gamre and Mr. Akshay Bibvekar, students of the Department of Marathi, conducted an informal interview with Mr. Ganeshpure. They asked him numerous questions about his career, his journey from Amravati to the Mumbai acting industry and experiences therein, the show which brought him fame and made him a household name, and on his style of acting. Mr. Deogadkar, Head, Department of Marathi, also asked him several questions on his use of Varhadi Marathi, a dialect of Marathi spoken in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
Mr. Ganeshpure answered all these questions and more in his special Varhadi style. Through his responses, one sensed his down-to-earth personality. Success has not made him lose touch with his roots and this is what compels respect in his audience. The audience, which comprised students and staff, were held enthralled.
Students expressed their admiration for Mr. Ganeshpure by presenting him with a handmade greeting card (made by FYBA Marathi students Ms. Devika Shinde and Ms. Krutika Joshi) and reading out a poem composed for him by Department student Ms. Disha Sawant.
