Program Outcome

The manner in which our syllabus is framed helps the students to develop their cognitive skills—such as evaluating, analyzing and understanding how all pieces of a ‘concept’ fit together, thereby, giving them a strong foundation in the field of their choice.

The syllabus has undergone several curriculum revision exercises based on the remodeled M.Sc. Biotechnology Curriculum, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, And Mumbai University

The revised syllabus is an outcome of several rounds of deliberations, discussions, feedback and multiple brainstorming sessions involving various contributors & stakeholders- academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students. A lot of focus has been given in the syllabus to cover the latest developments in the area of biotechnology and to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills. Relevant papers to make students industry-ready have also been included.

The post-graduation biotechnology program enhances student knowledge and guides teachers in order to make the learning process more effective the first-year focus on core subjects followed by an application-based second year

The First year course covers, insights to Glycobiology , Lipid Chemistry ,Nucleic acid Chemistry, and Physiological Chemistry, Immunology including immunogenetics and clinical immunology, principles and applications of biochemical engineering. Instrumentation involved in protein biology, proteomics and genomics and advanced microscopy, Basic bioinformatics and sequence analysis, protein modeling and Understanding descriptive and inductive statistics. Plant and animal Tissue culture with its applications in genetic manipulation and Animal tissue culture in reproductive biotechnology. Protein transportation, organelles and mechanism of Vesicular traffic and structure prediction of protein and conformational diseases of proteins, IPR, bioethics and patenting of biotech inventions.

A general and broad introduction to the multidisciplinary field of nanotechnology is also part of the curriculum along with the Perturbation of biological systems to study various responses in the biological systems using high throughput techniques. Introduction to the modeling systems, databases, computational tools used in systems biology. A firm foundation in Drug Discovery and Clinical Studies is also a target, Development of advanced scientific writing skills to write research articles, reviews, thesis, and proposals and to make oral, poster, or PowerPoint presentations.
