Faculty Development Programme on “Effectiveness of Emotional Intelligence with Reference to Work Life Balance in an Organisation”
The Departments of BMS and BBI had organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Effectiveness of Emotional Intelligence with Reference to Work Life Balance in an Organisation” for 60 Teaching Staff Members of the SF section.
The session started with exploring ways to advance personal emotional intelligence and recognising emotions in others, responding to those emotions to inspire high performance along with concepts on establishing productive workplace relationships and team environments.
This session enabled the Teachers to identify their own emotions and thoughts, to know their strengths and weaknesses, and to achieve self-confidence.
Three-days’ Workshop on “RISK MANAGEMENT”
Between September 29 and October 1, 2021, a three-days’ Workshop was organised jointly with the Department of BBI on the topic “Risk Management”. The resource person was Mr. Pranit Jain, Chartered Accountant, Financial Planning Academy. A total of 150 SY and TY Students attended the event.
Over three days, Mr. Jain discussed the types of risk involved in business and investment, how to manage those risks, and the steps involved in decision making.
The participants benefited greatly from the event.
EMPORIO SUMMIT
RUSA-sponsored International Webinar on “Pioneering Ventures: New Age Entrepreneurship”
On April 10, 2021, the Departments of BMS, BAF and BBI jointly organized a RUSA Sponsored International Webinar under the auspices of EMPORIO SUMMIT, on “Pioneering Ventures: New Age Entrepreneurship” to enhance the spirit of entrepreneurship among youth. The speakers were Mr. Umesh Nihalani, Senior General Manager, VFS GLOBAL, DUBAI, and Ms. Shunaza Khan, Lecturer, London School of Commerce, London, UK.
As ventures or business ideas are generally perceived as risky and uncertain, the speakers provided guidance about scalable start-ups, social entrepreneurship, and how to succeed as entrepreneurs. Mr. Nihalani spoke on “Budding Entrepreneurs” and how to initiate ideas on entrepreneurship, and Ms. Khan spoke on “Effective Communication Skills Required for Entrepreneurs”, and also provided examples of several young entrepreneurs to illustrate her ideas.
The Webinar was attended by 296 Students, Academicians, and Faculty members from various colleges across India and abroad.
Quiz on “Accounting Concepts and Conventions”
To make learning fun, the Departments of BAF and BBI jointly organised a quiz on accounting concepts and conventions for their FY Students on their Gnomio website. The quiz was in the form of a crossword and Students were tested on their knowledge of cost accounting, financial accounting and various accounting systems. A total of 221 students participated.
Webinar on “Union Budget 2021”
On March 4, 2021, the Departments of BAF and BBI jointly organised a webinar on “Union Budget 2021”, which was attended by 216 participants. The speaker was CA Abhijit Sanzgiri.
Mr. Sanzgiri began by pointing out that 2021-22 was the first paperless Indian Union Budget. In his analysis he stated that India would be unable to sustain the annual growth rate of 7%-8% if it continued to ignore its unskilled labour force, or increasing technological unemployment, or the poor levels of tertiary education. Identifying education as a critical issue, he remarked that while the government’s national education policy was well thought out, it had not set any appropriate timelines for its implementation. Yet, he opined that this pathbreaking budget resisting the call for fiscal deficit focus and debt/GDP centricity. Finally, Mr. Sanzgiri discussed the impact of the pandemic on business and the economy.
Mr. Sanzgiri’s talk was followed by a Q&A session.
RUSA-sponsored Intercollegiate Webinar on “Scrutiny of Financial Statements – Investment-Auditor & Investors’ Perspective”
On August 28, 2021, a RUSA-sponsored Intercollegiate webinar on “Scrutiny of Financial Statements” was organized jointly by the Departments of BAF and BBI, which was attended by 350 students.
The first session was conducted by CA Satish More, Assistant Accounts Manager, Tolani Shipping Co. Ltd., who explained financial statements, the investors’ perspective in the scrutiny of financial statements, and how to view company financials online. He also explained ratio analysis from different stakeholders and MCA features.
The second session was conducted by CA Shivani Singhi, Assistant Accounts Manager, Tolani Shipping Co. Ltd., who explained the auditors’ perspective in the scrutiny of financial statements. The session started with definition and types of audits and how they are undertaken, the concept of ‘vouching’ and the different types of supporting documents and their relevance, and the relevance of verification of different financial statements. Ms. Singhi concluded by explaining the internal control system and its importance in audits.
The Webinar ended with a Q&A session. The feedback from the participants was excellent.
Intercollegiate Webinar on “Deception in Banking and Insurance Sector”
On October 9, 2021, the Departments of BAF and BBI jointly organised an intercollegiate webinar on ‘Deception in Banking and Insurance Sector’, and which was attended by 210 students. The resource person was CA Abhishek Shetty, Credit Analyst, Team Head for Corporate Finance, RBL Bank Ltd.Mr. Shetty talked about the various types of frauds that take place in banking and insurance sector, and how to overcome and reduce such crimes by adopting certain strategies. The talk ended with an interactive session.
Intercollegiate Webinar on “Investor Awareness Programme (NSE)”
On September 18, 2021, the Departments of BAF and BBI jointly organised an intercollegiate webinar on ‘Investment Awareness Program (NSE)’. The resource person was Mr. Amogh Gothoskar, Trainer, Resource Person for Investment Awareness programmes.
In his talk Mr. Gothoskar explained terms such as Primary & Secondary Market, Capital & Money Market, and explained in detail the working of SEBI. He spoke about the availability of online brokers such as Zerodha, Upstox, and 5Paise and how they function. He then went on to discuss the two factors that benefit investors: ‘ease of Investment and level of transparency’ through which investors can invest in multiple online platforms, and ‘Regulation’ which safeguards clients’ securities and prevents market manipulation.
The webinar was attended by 333 students and their feedback was excellent
