Poster-making Competition on “Social Issue Awareness”
On September 16, 2021, a poster-making competition on “Social Issue Awareness” was organised jointly by the Departments of IT and CS. The topics were “Save the Girl Child”, “COVID Awareness”, “Status Of Women In Society”, “Gender Equality” and “Save the Environment”.
The competition was an opportunity for Students to showcase their talents and creativity, as well as social sensitivity. The winners were invited to discuss their posters.

Webinar on “Career Guidance in Technology Domain”
On October 23, 2021, a webinar on “Career Guidance in Technology Domain” was organised jointly by the Departments of IT and CS, and was attended by 111 of their FY Students. The speaker was Mr. Pankajkumar Singh, Sr. Software Engineer, CitiusTech Healthcare Technology. He has an extensive experience as technology expert, including with such aspects as development of complex SQL, stored procedures, SSIS packages, Dashboards and reports using SPAGOBI.
Mr. Singh began the session by asking Students about their strengths and weaknesses, then went on to discuss the various roles and responsibilities associated with jobs in the IT sector, such as Software Designer, Computer Programmer, and System Analyst. He also spoke about the various certifications that would help Students get good jobs. In the Q&A session that followed, Mr. Singh resolved Students’ queries.
Three-days’ Interdisciplinary Skill Development Programme on Microsoft Suite
Between October 20 and 22, 2021, a three-days’ interdisciplinary skill development programme on “Microsoft Suite” was organised jointly by the Departments of IT and CS, for the Non-Teaching Staff. The programme aimed to familiarise the participants with the basic functionality of the MS Suite to facilitate their routine work.
Day 1 of the programme was conducted by Faculty Member Ms. Pranali Lanjekar, where she discussed such aspects as working with MS Word, using Google Docs, and formatting documents.
The Day 2 session was conducted by Faculty Member Ms. Reeba Khan, and she discussed the functionality of MS PowerPoint, using images, excel sheets, word documents, charts, transitions, etc., to create effective presentations.
Day 3 session was conducted by Faculty Members Ms. Pooja Amin and Ms. Ashwini Chavan. They explained the various functions available in MS Excel and how it could be used to facilitate work. Participants were also taught about excel flash fill, absolute referencing and vlookup.
On each day participants were assigned homework to be completed before the next day’s session. They benefited greatly from the programme and certificates of participation were awarded to all.
Inter-collegiate Webinar on “Cyber Security in Digital Era”
A two-days’ inter-collegiate webinar on “Cyber Security in Digital Era” was organised jointly by the Departments of IT and CS, and was attended by 116 UG and PG students.
The speaker for Day 1 was Mr. Rohit Date, Senior Associate at BDO, India, and Researcher at Synack Red Team. He spoke on risks of cyber attacks in various areas, various malwares used by hackers to steal data, and cryptography and the algorithms used. He also discussed the security certification progression chart of 2020, entry level career opportunities available, and explained the roles of incident responder, security architect, cryptographer, security auditor, forensic experts, penetration tester and also provided information about different courses available to become a cyber security professional.
The speaker for Day 2 was Mr. Jason Serrao, Associate in Cybersecurity, PWC, Mumbai. He spoke on security management, vulnerability assessment and its types, penetration testing and its phases and types such as black box, white box and grey box testing. He also explained types of social engineering such as Phishing, Vishing and Smishing, and Pretexting, Red Teaming and the tactics used in it, and bug bounty and the platforms that have bug bounty programmes.
Both talks ended with Q&A sessions and the response from the participants was excellent.
Webinar on “Preparing for Corporate World”
On July 17, 2021, a one-day webinar on “Preparing for Corporate World” was organised jointly by the Departments of IT and CS, and was attended by 141 of their TY and MSc-II Students. The session was streamed live on YouTube. The speaker was Ms. Hema Subramanian, Counsellor, Corporate Trainer and Change Catalyst.
Ms. Subramanian began by speaking of the effect of COVID-19 on students’ situation, how they can relate to the curriculum and pursue careers of their choice, what skills interviewers look for and how to successfully clear the various screening rounds at job selection interviews. She also spoke about the four important aspects of skills, values, goals and expectations were discussed.
Her talk was followed by an interactive session.
Webinar on “Cyber Security and Its Career Perspectives”
A one-day webinar titled “Cyber Security and Its Career Perspectives” was organised jointly by the Departments of IT and CS, and was attended by 102 of their SY and TY Students. The session was streamed live on YouTube on June 26, 2021. The speaker was Mr. Deepak Bhatt, currently employed with Tata Consultancy Services and who has extensive experience in the field of cyber security.
Mr. Bhatt explained the concept and need for cyber security and how important it is in the field of IT. He discussed in detail the different types of cyber attacks and the 7 layers of cyber security: human layer, perimeter security, network security, endpoint security, application security, data security, and mission critical assets. Mr. Bhatt also spoke about the career options available in the cyber security field and the certification required, and also talked about his own work in this area, and on Red Teaming and Blue Teaming. He played a video to demonstrate Cyber Attack: how the vulnerability is observed, how the attack works, and how it is contained. He ended by saying that complete cyber security was a myth and spoke of the economic loss due to cyber attacks.
The talk ended with a Q&A session.
Two Days International Webinar “Research In IT”:
“A Tailored Approach Towards Cloud Computing”
The Departments of Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS) jointly organised a two-days’ International Webinar “Research In IT”: “A Tailored Approach Towards Cloud Computing”, on March 19 & 20, 2021. A total of 280 academicians, industry professionals, and students attended the event.
The resource person for the Day 1 was Mr. Bhargav Bachina, Founder, Bachina Labs LLC. He spoke on “Automation in Cloud Computing”, where he explained the basics of Cloud, discussed GCP concepts and shared knowledge of AWS Management Console and AWS Certification. On Day 2, Mr. Ganesh Kulaye, Senior System Administrator and Mr. Vijay Pawar, Technical Lead TCS, India, spoke about Industry 4.0 Revolution, kinds of Cloud Computing such as IAAS, PAAS, SAAS, and Cloud Automation, IAC and its providers.
All the sessions were interactive and the feedback from the participants was excellent.
Peer-To-Peer Learning Programme: Horizon+
On May 3, 2021, the Departments of IT and CS jointly organised a peer-to-peer learning programme on “Horizon+”. The programme aimed to enable Students to showcase their talents and also share their knowledge with their peers, and was attended by 141 FY and SY Students of the Departments.
Ms. Mansi Bhavsar and Mr. Aniket Namsale of SY CS spoke on “Creating website with ASP.NET" and explained the working of their project. Mr. Amit Pandey of SY CS discussed “Selenium Browser Automation” with demonstrations of various websites on selenium. The final topic on “Introduction to Data Science & Machine Learning” was presented by Ms. Harshita Gupta and Mr. Ekansh Hardas of TY IT, and was accompanied by quiz and demonstration.
The programme was an enriching experience for both presenters and audience.
Project Competition — D.I.P.A.M. Design Implementation Performance Accuracy Maintenance
On April 12, 2021, the elimination rounds for “D.I.P.A.M.: Design Implementation Performance Accuracy Maintenance” were organised. D.I.P.A.M. is a competition that aims at building interest in system development among UG students of the Departments of IT, CS and BCA, thus, giving enabling them to transform a simple idea into a pioneering innovation.
The finals were conducted on April 17, 2021, and the 6 final submissions were judged by Mr. Vino Livan Nadar, Senior Automation Engineer, Accelerate, Pune, who also interacted with the participants. The finalists were:

RUSA-Sponsored Three days' Faculty Development Program on “Cyber Security”
Between March 8 and 10, 2021, the Departments of IT and CS jointly organised a three days RUSA-sponsored online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Cyber Security” for its Teachers. The resource person was Mr. Sai Satish, Founder & CEO of Indian Servers, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Over 3 days, Mr. Satish focused on different aspects of the need to safeguard oneself in the cyber world. On Day 1 he discussed security aspects related to mobile phones and their apps. On Day 2, Mr. Satish spoke about various cybercrimes and how to improve system security. On the third day Mr. Satish discussed the various ways in which user’s social media credentials can be attacked and how to safeguard oneself.
All the sessions were highly interactive and participants shared their experiences and asked questions of Mr. Satish. The feedback from the participants was excellent
RUSA-sponsored International Webinar – “Research In IT ‘22 – Data Driven Decision Science”
On March 26, 2022, the Departments of Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS) jointly organised a RUSA-sponsored International Webinar, “Research in IT ‘22 – Data Driven Decision Science”, which was attended by 156 participants, including 11 academicians, industrial professionals, and 144 undergraduate and postgraduate Students. The webinar aimed to explain the evolution of Data Architecture and provide information on becoming a data scientist or data practitioner.
The speaker on Day 1 was Ms. Sheetal Kedia, Senior Consultant at Capgemini, Richmond, USA. In her topic titled “Data Architecture Evolution and its use cases”, Ms. Kedia discussed the principles and challenges of such aspects as Data Warehouse, Data Architecture, Data Mesh, and Data Lake. She also discussed the business implementation of ETL in the Insurance domain and its problems.
Day 2 of the webinar was conducted by Mr. Bastin Robin, Director of Decision Science, Chief Data Scientist, CleverInsight, Bengaluru, Karnataka. In his talk titled “A to Z of Data Science”, Mr. Robin who is among “India’s 20 Most Influential Conversational AI Leaders’, explained the concept of Data Science and the role of a data scientist. He went on to discuss the importance of selecting a domain and the practices that need to be adopted. Further, he elaborated on various problems of Data Analytics and how machine learning and data science can be implemented in business.
The sessions on both days were highly interactive and the feedback from the participants was excellent.
National Webinar on “Get ready to place in FAANG Company”
On February 26, 2022, the Departments of IT and CS jointly organized a National Webinar on “Get ready to place in FAANG Company”, an event attended by Students, Academicians and Industrial professionals. Cloud Data Engineer at Google, Mr. Anmol Kankariya, was the resource person.
The webinar aimed to make Students understand the skills necessary to get jobs in FAANG (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) companies. Mr. Kankaria shared his experience of the selection process at Google and provided tips on how to navigate through the challenges of the corporate world.
The webinar ended with an interactive session. The response from the participants was excellent.
Lecture on ‘Career Opportunities in IT’
On October 3, 2020, the Departments of IT and Computer Science (CS) jointly organised a Webinar on ‘Career Opportunities in IT’, and which was attended by 176 FY Students of both Departments. The speaker was Mr. Saurabh Lahoti, a network security engineer with worldline Nv/Sa, Belgium, and an Alumnus of the College.
Mr. Lahoti commenced the session by focusing on the importance of upskill and re-skill as well as learning and earning. He spoke of the various jobs in IT field, and provided guidance on pursuing MBA. In addition, Mr. Lahoti gave practical tips such as entering the automobile industry through IT and CS streams, selecting career paths, ensuring a successful software testing careers, and setting up start-ups.
The talk was followed by an interactive session and Students benefited highly from the lecture.
Training Session on “Virtual Labs”, IIT-Bombay
OnSeptember 12, 2020, the Department of Information Technology (IT) organized a 2-hour Virtual Lab training session for 108 SY Students of the Department, to provide a demonstration of various concepts related to Computer Science and Engineering.
The Faculty Members briefed Students about the ‘Virtual Lab’ experiments and helped them to perform various experiments available in Computer Programming Lab, Problem Solving Lab, and Data Structures Lab. Students performed such experiments as Sorting using Arrays, Polynomials via Linked Lists, Factorials, String Operations, and Expression Evaluation using Stacks.
International Webinar on
“Robotic Process Automation: Kickstart Your Career”
On February 27, 2021, the Departments of Information Technology(IT) and Computer Science(CS) jointly organized an international webinar on “Robotic Process Automation: Kickstart Your Career”. The speaker was Ms. Tolani Jaiye-Tikolo, a Senior RPA Developer at HCL Technologies, Ireland, Dublin.
Ms. Jaiye-Tikoloexplained the concept of Robotic Process Automation, the roles and job opportunities available, and the hard and soft skills required to become an RPA developer. In addition, she discussed the RPA tools needed to produce live bots, andresolved misconceptions about RPA replacing humans in jobs. Finally, Ms. Jaiye-Tikolo discussed the available training and certification programmes in the automation domain.
The webinar was attended by 288participants, including 7 academicians, 4 industry professionals, 1 international Student and 276 undergraduate and Post-graduate Students.
“Animation 101- Unlock Your Creativity”
On July 11, 2020, the Departments of Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS) jointly organised a Webinar titled “Animation 101: Unlock your Creativity”, which was attended by 118 participants from various Departments such as IT, CS, BBI, BMS, and Aviation. The resource person was IT Department Alumnus Mr. Pranav Juvekar, who is now working as a Film Editor intern and studying at the Academy of Art University, California, to major in Animation & VFX 3D Animation.
Mr. Juvekar discussed how the entire animation process takes place and also demonstrated concepts such as digital animation, 2D, 3D animation with the use of animation videos. In addition, Mr. Juvekar spoke about the various softwares used for animation, and the career opportunities available in the field. He also resolved participants’ queries at the end of the session.
FDP on “Live Streaming: How to start and Grow?”
OnJuly 9, 2020, the Departments of Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS) jointly organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP)titled“Live Streaming: How to start and Grow?”, for the Teachers and Technical Staff of the College. The objective was to facilitate the live-streaming of online events on to the YouTube or Facebook platforms.
The resource persons were Mr. Sameer Kamble,Co-coordinator,BCA and Faculty Member, Department of IT, and Ms. Rasika Sawant, Faculty Member, Department of CS. Mr. Kamble explained the need for live-streaming and demonstrated how to create a YouTube channel, and how to go live via webcam. He also demonstrated the use of StreamYard for live-streaming. Ms. Sawant explained and demonstrated the use of the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) tool and Google Meet, along with the various settings of the OBS tool required for streaming live to YouTube.
Following the demonstrations, there was an interactive session. Forty-nine Staff members participated in the FDP.
"IT Industry Job Opportunities in 2020"
On July 23, 2020, the Departments of Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS) jointly organised an Inter-collegiate Webinar titled “IT Industry Job Opportunities in 2020” for Students, Academicians and Industry Professionals. The Webinar was attended by 268 participants from various colleges in India and Nigeria. The objective of this Webinarwas to provide guidance to participants for upcoming job opportunities in the IT industry in 2020.
The resource person, Mr. Maneesh Jha, is Director of SQUAD InfoTech Pvt. Ltd. Heintroduced “Employment opportunities after BSc Degree Course” and gave Three Mantras: Knowledge, Commitment and Consistency.Mr. Jha shared interview tips that would help to attract the attention of recruiters. He also discussed tips for a successful software testing career and encouraged students towards entrepreneurship.
The talk was followed by an interactive session.
