Chikitsak Samuha’s Patkar Varde College is a premier educational institution situated in the western suburbs of Mumbai, established in 1964. Since then, with its glorious past and promising future we are celebrating the Diamond Jubilee Year 2023-24. In keeping with the spirit of learning and growing through introspection, we have set up high standards, working continuously towards advanced goals leading to the implementation of NEP 2020. Quality enhancement through curriculum and infrastructure upgradation is diligently practiced.

The college was founded by Chikitsak Samuha, a group formed of like-minded individuals who were keenly interested in education. The Samuha had already established and successfully run a school in Girgaon for many years - Shirolkar High School - before they decided to venture into the field of higher education.

The College stands on a plot of ground donated by Late Smt. Motiben Dalvi. The College was named after Sir Sitaram Patkar, a distinguished judge of the Bombay High Court, who was knighted after his retirement, and his wife, Lady Shantabai Patkar. Sir Sitaram, the Vice-Chancellor of the S.N.D.T. University was deeply interested in furthering the cause of women education.

The College of Arts and Science started functioning from the academic year 1964-65. In response to a heavy local demand for the Commerce faculty, the Commerce wing was started in 1980 with two divisions of F.Y.B.Com, which were extended upto the T.Y. level in subsequent years.

To promote career-based education, the College started degree-level courses like BMS and B.Sc. Computer Science from the year 2000-2001 and B.Sc. - IT from the year 2001-2002. Since then, to provide Students with the best possible learning opportunities, the College has constantly and consistently upgraded the courses offered and the infrastructure required for these courses. A new building to house new courses and a ladies hostel was established in 2012.

The College is re-accredited with A+ grade by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.53. The UGC Autonomous status was conferred on the College, and was implemented from 2019-20. The College became the proud recipient of the RUSA 2.0 scheme, under Component 8, that is, "Enhancing Quality and Excellence in Select Autonomous Colleges".
